Escal appendage pattern C; esca with a stout anterior appendage, shorter than escal bulb, without internal pigment, bearing a single short branch; a pair of unpigmented filamentous medial escal appendages, slightly longer than anterior appendage; a rounded terminal escal papilla with a distal spot of pigment; an anteroposteriorly compressed unpigmented posterior escal appendage, as long as escal bulb, bearing two short branches at mid-length; lateral escal appendages absent; two pairs of filamentous anterolateral escal appendages: an inner pair of stout tapering appendages flanking anterior appendage each longer than SL, lightly pigmented internally except for slightly expanded distal tip, and bearing numerous short filaments; and an outer pair of unpigmented bifurcated appendages, each tapering branch of which is more than three times length of escal bulb and bears two short filaments.
Subopercle long and narrow, dorsal end tapering, but rounded distally, without indentation on posterodorsal margin; length of ventral fork of opercle 23.8% SL; ratio of length of dorsal and ventral forks of opercle 0.50.
Epibranchial teeth absent; teeth present on pharyngobranchial II; total number of teeth in upper jaw 33, in lower jaw 49; number of teeth on vomer 6; dorsal-fin rays 6; anal-fin rays 4; pectoral-fin rays 16.Measurements in percent of standard length: head length 40.4; head depth 47.6; premaxilla length 35.7; lower jaw length 47.6; illicium length 33.3.
Oneirodes mirus is a member of the O. schmidti-group. It differs from other members of the O. schmidti-group in its escal morphology and is further differentiated from most members of the group by having fewer teeth in the jaws.
Oneirodes mirus is known from a single specimen collected in the Indian Ocean, off Sumatra, with 3000 m of wire out.

As with most oneirodid taxa males of the genus Oneirodes are free-living and presumed non-parasitic.
Known from a single metamorphosed female (42 mm).

Oneirodes mirus is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van armvinnigen (Oneirodidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1932 door Regan & Trewavas.
Bronnen, noten en/of referenties奇夢角鮟鱇,為輻鰭魚綱鮟鱇目棘茄魚亞目夢角鮟鱇科的其中一種。分布於印度洋海域,屬深海魚類,棲息深度約1500公尺,體長可達3.2公分。
