Zlatochvost zlatý (Lamarckia aurea) je nevysoká ozdobná travina, jediný druh monotypického rodu zlatochvost z čeledi lipnicovitých kde je řazen do podčeledě Pooideae.
Rostlina pochází z evropských, asijských a afrických oblastí přiléhajících ke Středozemnímu moři. Z počátku se do blízkých okolních zemí rozšiřovala sama, později byla jako okrasná travina vysazována téměř v celé Evropě a Americe, v jihozápadní Asii a Austrálii. Tam všude zplaněla, začala se nezávisle na lidech rozmnožovat a stala se součástí domácí flory.
Je to na nenáročný druh vyrůstající na vápencovitém podloží na suchých loukách, pastvinách, stráních, v křovinách i kolem cest, není mu na obtíž ani kamenitá půda. Je vděčný za teplé a plně osluněné stanoviště s nezamokřenou půdou.[1][2]
Jednoletá tráva vyrůstající v řídkých trsech s vystoupavými až přímými stébly ne delšími 10 až 25 cm. Stébla jsou porostlá jasně zelenými, plochými, 15 až 20 cm dlouhými a 0,6 cm širokými listy které jsou na koncích zašpičatělé. Mají drsné listové pochvy z nichž nejvyšší jsou nafouklé a 5 až 10 mm dlouhé jazýčky dělené do čárkovitých úkrojků.
Na vrcholu stébla vyrůstá do délky až 8 cm a šířky 2,5 cm klasovitě stažená jednostranná lata; nejdřív je hedvábně se lesknoucí stříbřitě zelená a později se její barva mění do zlatavé. Na jedné straně vřetene vyrůstají bočně zploštělé fertilní nebo sterilní klásky s krátkými stopkami, jsou smíšeně nahloučeny po dvou až pěti. Plodné klásky (dlouhé 2 až 3 mm) mají po 1 až 2 kvítcích, neplodné (dlouhé 5 až 8 mm) mívají kvítků více. Tenounké plevy jsou čárkovitě kopinaté a na koncích rozeklané. Vejčité, ve dvou protilehlých řadách střechovitě uspořádané pluchy mají dlouhé osiny. V plodných kvítcích jsou 3 tyčinky s prašníky a lysý semeník s dvěma bliznami. Kvete poměrně krátce, ve střední Evropě obvykle rozkvétá v červnu až červenci. Plodem je podlouhlá lysá obilka. Ploidie rodu je 2n = 14.[1][2][3][4]
Zlatochvost zlatý se obvykle používá jako ne příliš výrazná letnička na obruby nebo do letničkových záhonů kde je po odkvětu ještě dlouho ozdobou. Je doporučován i k řezu do malých kytiček, méně vhodný je pro sušení neboť má krátká stébla a laty se po usušení stáhnou.
V teplých přírodních podmínkách lze semena vysévat přímo na stanoviště, v podmínkách ČR je vhodnější výsev v březnu až dubnu do skleníku a v půli května rychle se vyvíjející sazeničky vysázet na záhon ve sponu 20 × 20 cm. V některých místech severozápadní Asie a Severní Ameriky je zlatochvost zlatý považována za plevel.[1][2]

Das Goldgras ist eine einjährige krautige Pflanze, die in kleinen dichten „Büscheln“ wächst. Seine Halme sind aufsteigend und erreichen eine Wuchshöhe von 5 bis 25, selten bis zu 40 Zentimetern.[1]
Die wechselständig am Halm angeordneten Laubblätter sind in Blattscheide und Blattspreite gegliedert. Die Blätter sind flach und weich, blassgrün und 2–8 Millimeter breit.[1] Die oberste Blattscheide ist etwas aufgeblasen.[1] Das Blatthäutchen ist ein 5 bis 10 Millimeter langer spitzer, häutiger Saum. Die einfache, flache Blattspreite ist 2 bis 6 Millimeter breit.[2]
Die rispige Blütenstand ist bei einer Länge von 4 bis 8 Zentimetern sowie einer Breite von bis zu 2,5 Zentimetern länglich,[2] ist dicht, zusammengezogen und gewöhnlich einseitig; sein Aussehen gleicht etwas einer „Zylinderputzbürste“. Die Ährchen sind in gestielten miteinander abfallenden Gruppen angeordnet. Innerhalb einer Gruppe gibt es drei unfruchtbare und unbegrannte Ährchen, die neben zwei kleinen begrannten stehen. Von den beiden begrannten Ährchen ist eines steril, das andere fertil. Die unbegrannten Ährchen sind 6 bis 7 Millimeter lang und bestehen aus zwei Hüllspelzen und sechs bis zwölf schmalen, gerundeten, zarthäutigen kurz behaarten Deckspelzen. Die fruchtbaren Ährchen sind etwa 4 Millimeter lang, einblütig, mit einer stark verkümmerten, begrannten Deckspelze. Ihre Hüllspelzen sind schmal und lang zugespitzt und überragen das Ährchen. Zwischen ihnen und dem Blütchen steht ein etwa 0,6 Millimeter langes Glied der Ährchenachse. Die Deckspelze ist fünfnervig, am oberen Ende zweizähnig und zwischen den Zähnen 6 bis 8 Millimeter lang begrannt.
Die Blütezeit reicht von Februar bis Juli.
Die Chromosomenzahl beträgt 2n = 14.[3][2]
Das Goldgras ist vom Mittelmeerraum: Griechenland (inklusive Kreta), Italien (inklusive Sardinien, Sizilien), Frankreich (inklusive Korsika), Portugal, Spanien (inklusive Balearen) Algerien, Ägypten, Libyen, Marokko, Tunesien, Zypern, Sinai, Israel, Jordanien, Libanon, Syrien, Türkei bis Äthiopien verbreitet und kommt in Makaronesien auf Madeira sowie den Kanarischen Inseln,[4] vielleicht auch im nördliche Indien vor.[5] Es wächst an offenen Ruderalstellen, an Wegrändern, auf Brachland, auf Mauern.[1]
Die Erstveröffentlichung erfolgte 1753 unter dem Namen Cynosurus aureus (Basionym) durch Carl von Linné in Species Plantarum, Seite 73. Conrad Moench stellte 1794 mit dieser Art unter dem Namen Lamarckia aurea (L.) Moench eine eigene Gattung Lamarckia Moench in Methodus, Seite 201.[6] Der Gattungsname Lamarckia ehrt den Biologen Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck.[7] Das Artepitheton aurea bedeutet „goldgelb“. Weitere Synonyme für Lamarckia aurea (L.) Moench sind: Chrysurus aureus (L.) Besser, Achyrodes aureum (L.) Kuntze, Pterium elegans Desv., Lamarckia hookeriana Griff.[5] Synonyme für Lamarckia Moench nom. cons. sind: Tinaea Garzia nom. superfl., Achyrodes Ludw. nom. rej., Chrysurus Pers., Pterium Desv.[5]
Lamarckia aurea ist die einzige Art der Pflanzengattung Lamarckia der Subtribus Dactylidinae aus der Tribus Poeae in der Unterfamilie Pooideae innerhalb der Familie Poaceae.[4]
