Description: Another shot of this shrub at my mum's place - and still a very neat rounded evergreen. This is a seedling of plants that grow wild in the woods near Newick in East Sussex. Date: 5 December 2011, 12:53. Source: Daphne laureola. Author: peganum from Small Dole, England.
Description: This was a tiny seedling I 'liberated' from a garden I worked in near Newick in Sussex more than ten years ago, where they grew as weeds (they're native around here). Often, in the wild the Spurge Laurel, as it's known locally, can be a bit straggly, growing out from under holly and beech, but these plants were neat dark glossy evergreens and I couldn't resist taking one.
