Leaf-blades very variable in shape, oblong, elliptic, oval, or suborbicular, varying to broadest above or below the middle, or linear, 2-9 cm. long, obtuse, acute, or slightly acuminate, ultimately glabrous and more or less shining above, more or less pubescent beneath or glabrous, acute or rounded at the base, short-petioled ; peduncles and pedicels permanently, but usually sparingly, pubescent ; sepals suborbicular or oval, 3^1 mm. long, the glands one half as long as the sepal-body or more ; larger petals 8-12.5 mm. long ; samaras 2-2.5 cm. long, the ventral edge of the wing with an oblique ovate auricle at the base.
Type locality : Near Havana, Cuba. Distribution : Cuba.

Leaf-blades oblong, linear-oblong, or lanceolate, 1-4 cm. long, rounded and mucronulate at apex, white-silky at least when young, rounded at the base, very short-petioled ; peduncles and pedicels pubescent ; sepals ovate, about 3 mm. long, the glands about one half the length of the sepal-body ; larger petals 9-10 mm. long ; samaras fully 1.5 cm. long, the ventral edge of the wing with a rounded auricle at the base.
Type locality : Near Rio Toro, Cuba. Distribution : Cuba.

Leaf-blades linear, usually narrowly so, 4-9 cm. long, acute and usually also somewhat acuminate, ultimately glabrous on both sides, acute at the base, short-petioled ; peduncles and pedicels permanently pubescent ; sepals ovate, 3-3.5 mm. long, theglands onehalf the length of the sepal-body or more ; larger petals 10-11 mm. long, the blades broadly oblong ; samaras about 1.5 cm. long, the ventral side of the wing with an angular oblique rather sharp auricle at the base.
Type locality : Near Cayo del Rey, Cuba. Distribution : Cuba.

Stigmat. 1:8. 1899 Leaf-blades ovate, varying to oblong-ovate or orbicular-ovate, 2.5-8 cm. long, abruptly pointed or mucronate, shining and finely reticulate above, densely pubescent beneath, rounded or cordate at the base, short-petioled ; peduncles and pedicels permanently pubescent ; sepals ovate, 3-4 mm. long, the glands about one half as long as the sepalbody ; larger petals 10-13 cm. long ; samaras 1.5-2 cm. long, the ventral edge of the wing with an obliquely rounded auricle at the base.
Type locality : Lesser Antilles. Distribution : Lesser Antilles.
