Description: Apostle birds are very communal, here a family member has picked up ants. They are ground feeders mainly, and this one has had the black ants attack. So he threw himself on the ground, legs in the air, and the family rushed down to pick them off and save him. At first I thought they were attacking him, but it was definitely ants. Description: The apostle bird is, for me, seriously strange. Its looks and behavior are unusual. They live in a family group, and at times are very noisy, telling the bush where the dingo is, and at other times very quiet, impossible to detect in the thick bush.
