Ochrophyta je skupina uglavnom fotosintskih heterokonta.[4][5] Njihovi plastidi vode porijeklo od crvenih algi.[6]
Klasifikacija grupe se još uvek razrađuje. Neki autori (npr. Cavalier-Smith) dijele je na dva potkoljena, Phaeista Cavalier-Smith 1995 (koje sadrži Hypogyristea i Chrysista u nekim klasifikacijama, ili Limnista i Marista u drugima) i Khakista Cavalier-Smith, 2000 (koja sadrži Bolidomonas i diatomeje).[7] Drugi radije ne koriste taksonomski rang potkoljena, navodeći samo niže taksone.
