Early fall in the old cemetery of the Permian Basin oil boom-and-bust ghost town of Stiles, Texas -- a couple of
Cenizo bushes (Leucophyllum frutescens) blooming with bright violet flowers, attracting all sorts of butterflies, including the
Lyside Sulphur (Kricogonia lyside). This yellow-and-white butterfly is common throughout Mexico and southern Texas, rare elsewhere.
