Native of Florida, Caribbean, northern South America; elsewhere cultivated as ornamental and for its fragrant flowers. A treelet that reaches a height of up to 15 m. Leaves ovate to elliptic ca 420 cm long; orange petioles. Small white flowers are produced throughout the year on hanging axillary and terminal racemes and panicles 2040 cm in length.
