Yellow alder (Turnera ulmifolia) (8110737218)

Imagem de Turnera ulmifolia L.

Descrição:

Description: Native to Central & South America, the West Indies, Bahamas and Bermuda, this species is now naturalized in Florida. Rain from the night before had just dried so I let the morning sunlight wash over the blossom by temporarily holding a shading palmetto frond aside. The flower is about 50mm across. Turnera ulmifolia has several medicinal uses and has shown promise in the battle against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections. It can be found listed as a member of the Turneraceae or the Passifloraceae. Juno Dunes Natural Area. Date: 20 October 2012, 08:55.
