Description: English: This is a specimen of a mature Psephurus gladius (Chinese Paddlefish), which is exhibited in the Museum of Hydrobiological Sciences, Wuhan Institute of Hydrobiology of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Detailed information of the specimen is little-known. A paper published in December 2019 suggested the Chinese Paddlefish was thought to be extinct sometime between 2005 and 2010 based on 210 sightings of Chinese paddlefish during the period 1981-2003, as well as the result that no individual of Chinese Paddlefish was spotted during the latest survey conducted on the Yangtze River during 2017-2018. Thus, it recommended the IUCN to reevaluate the species as EX "extinct" according to its criteria.
