Imagem de Angelica kingii (S. Wats.) Coult. & Rose

Descrição:

Description: Great Basin angelica, Angelica kingii, California, White Mountains, Cottonwood Basin, Poison Creek, Fishlake Valley drainage, elevation 3031 m (9945 ft). This is the second of three Angelica species that inhabit this one small canyon in the White Mountains. (Third one coming next!) Also known as Nevada angelica, this Great Basin endemic is almost entirely confined to the higher, wetter mountains of northern and central Nevada, extending shortly into the Deep Creek Mountains of northwest Utah, and here into the White Mountains of eastern California, where it reaches its southwestern limit. This location is also close to its highest known elevation limit, from which it descends the wetter canyons to about 1800 meters (5900 feet) elevation. Another species that likes its feet wet, Angelica kingii is only found along the most dependable water courses in the White Mountains. Also visible in this image is tufted hairgrass (Deschampsia caespitosa). Date: 28 July 2016, 11:03. Source: Great Basin angelica, Angelica kingii. Author: Jim Morefield from Nevada, USA.
