I guess it had tired wings. Despite being extremely common, there is not a lot of research on hoopoes, especially the African hoopoe. Good masters material there, especially if you are interested in using genetics to study populations and evolutionary history. For example, how close are the three species (Eurasian, Madagascan, African), and when did they diverge? What were the possible driving environmental conditions at the time?.
