Descrição:

Description: Introduced, warm-season, perennial, erect, tufted grass to 1.5 m tall. Leaves and sheaths are hairy, with distinctive glandular hairs. Flowerheads are open panicles; 15-50 cm long and with the lower branches whorled. Spikelets are 2-flowered, awnless and hairy; the back of the fertile florets are minutely ridged. Flowers in summer.A native of Africa, it has been planted as a pasture grass, mainly in the 1960s and 1970s, but in many areas it proved less suited to the climate than many other pasture species. However in the Hunter, Petrie Green Panic is commonly sown in mine rehabilitation sites and some pasture situations and is more palatable than Pioneer Rhodes Grass. It is also a widespread weed of roadsides, wasteland and other disturbed areas. Grows well in sunny and shaded situations. Date: 13 February 2016, 09:31. Source: Megathyrsus maximus node2.
