Description: English: Burkholderia pseudomallei colonies on Ashdown agar after 72 hours incubation at 37ºC. It is common for pure isolates of B. pseudomallei to show a high degree of variation in the morphology of the colonies. In this example, most of the colonies are morphotype VII (pale smooth round colonies with a dimpled centre), but there a three morphotype I colonies in the photograph (purple, wrinkled colonies).
