Description: Along with Melica subulata, Cinna latifolia, Festuca subulata, and Glyceria striata, Bromus vulgaris is one of the common native understory grasses in the understory of Death Canyon, mostly at the upper elevations of tall mostly coniferous forest that line the bottom of the canyon. The arching (not drooping) narrow panicles, lemma awns nearly as long as the lemmas, and ligules generally well over 2 mm long are distinctive of this species. Date: 20 August 2016, 13:10.
