Kalistroemia rosei Rydberg, sp. nov A branched annual ; stem 3-10 dm. long, spreading, sparingly hirsute; stipules lanceolate, acuminate, 5-8 mm. long; leaves 2-4 cm. long; petioles 3-10 mm. long, much shorter than the leaflets ; leaflets obliquely oval, 10-25 mm. long, the pairs not very unlike in size, glabrous above, sparingly hirsute beneath ; peduncles 2-3 cm. long, usually shorter than the leaves, more or less curved and reflexed in fruit ; sepals narrowly lanceolate, hirsute, 8-10 mm. long ; petals bright-yellow or orange, 10-15 mm. long ; fruit sparingly strigose; beak about 6 mm. long, somewhat conic at the base; nutlets 4 mm. long, crossridged and tuberculate on the back, slightly reticulate on the faces.
Tvpe collected near Yautepec, Morelos, August 27, 1903, Rose & Painter 6562 (U. S. Nat. Herb.).
Distribution : Morelos, Oaxaca, Jalisco, Queretaro, and San Luis Potosi.
