Benthocodon pedunculatus lacks centripetal canals; short peduncle; 8 sausage shaped gonads only attached to radial canals for a short distance and mostly hanging distally; 3–4 rows of tentacles ~350 tentacles; reddish brown pigmentation on subumbrella. Has a deeper depth distribution than Pectis profundicola (down to at least 4,000 m in Monterey Bay). Dense aggregations
