Ceiba pentandra (Kapoktree) is a species of tree in the family mallows. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Neotropics, Maranhao, Acre (Brazil), Roraima, U.S. Virgin Islands, Amazônia, Pará, and Puerto Rico. They have compound, broad leaves, white flowers, and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Pemba Flying Fox, Little Flying Cow, Insular Flying Fox, and Jamaican Fruit-eating Bat. Individuals can grow to 150 feet.
