They are native to United States, North America, The Contiguous United States, Canada, Eastern North America, and The Americas. They have simple, broad leaves, blue flowers, and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Satyrium calanus, Halictus confusus, Lon hobomok, and Delta Flower Scarab. Individuals can grow to 0.96 m.
