Spachea parviflora A. Juss. Ann. Sci. Nat. II. 13 : 326. 1840 Leaf-blades lanceolate or slightly broadened upward, 7-15 cm. long, acuminate, glabrous except on the midrib beneath, short-petioled ; panicles about 10 cm. long, tomentose ; calyx with 8 or 9 glands ; corolla rose-colored, the petals slightly longer than the sepals, the blades obovate, sharply denticulate, decidedly exceeding the calyx ; fruits not seen.
Type locality : Near Havana, Cuba. Distribution : Cuba and St. Vincent.

II. 13 : 326. 1840 Leaf-blades lanceolate, 5-8 cm. long, acuminate, pellucid-punctate, glabrous except the midrib beneath, short-petioled ; panicles 8-13 cm. long, tomentose ; calyx with 8 glands, the sepals oval, 3-4 mm. long; corolla inconspicuous, the petals slightly longer than the sepals, the blades obovate to suborbicular, undulate ; fruits 5 mm. long.
Type locality : St. Vincent, West Indies. Distribution : St. Vincent.
