Stems few, incurved-puberulous, 3.5-5 dm. high; leaves ovate or the upper lance-ovate, 4.7-6.5 cm. long, 1.5-2.5 cm. wide, acuminate, pubescent with shorter and longer incurved hairs, membranaceous, reticulate; racemes loose, 4.5-7 cm. long; flowers pale-violet; sepals ovate or lance-ovate, acuminate, 3.3-3.8 mm. long; wings ovate-oval, 8.2 mm. long, 5.3 mm. wide, broadly rounded at apex, ciliate, sparsely pubescent; keel 7 mm. long; capsule oval, short-pubescent with ascending or incurved hairs, 10-12.5 mm. long; seed 4.7 mm. long; aril 1.4 mm. high, 2.6 mm. long on the dorsal margin, with medium-sized pilose umbo and scarious margin, the lateral lobes subquadratc, slightly lobulate, appressed, the dorsal lobe spreading, 3-toothed at apex.
Type locality: Near St. Pierre, Martinique.
Distribution: Martinique.

Stems erect, slightly puberulous, 1.5-4 dm. long; leaves elliptic-lanceolate or lanceolate, 2-2.5 cm. long, 1—1.1 cm. wide, acute or apiculate, strongly reticulate both sides and very shortly but densely subgriseous-velutinous, coriaceous; flowers 6 mm. long; wings elliptic, 6 mm. long, 3.5 mm. wide, about equaling corolla, ciliate; capsule oval, cordate-emarginate, with triangular vallecula, 10 mm. long; seed pyriform, brown; aril membranaceous, retrorsely spurred.
Type locality: Island of Santa Lucia, Lesser Antilles. Distribution: Santo Domingo and Santa Lucia.
