Flagellate (60-220 µm) with a semi-crescent-shaped flagellar area. Axostylar capitulum enveloping the nucleus and the flagellar area. Splinter-like parabasal bodies not encircling the nucleus. Type species: Joenoides intermedia (Dogiel).
