Description of Snyderella

provided by BioPedia
Multinucleate flagellates (77-150 µm) composed of many akaryomastigonts (100-3000). Each karyomastigont has four flagella, a parabasal body, and an axostyle. The mastigonts are close together and extend through the major part of the peripheral region. The axostyles are collected into a bundle posterior to the middle of the body. Nuclei are mostly spread in the central part. The type species, S. tabogae, occurs in Cryptotermes (formerly Kalotermes) longicollis (Kirby, 1929; GrassÚ, 1952a). No EM study. Type species: Snyderella tabogae Kirby 1929.
