Byrsonima berteroana A. Juss. Ann. Sci Nat. II. 13 : 333. 1840. Leaf-blades obovate to oval, 3-7 cm. long, rounded or emarginate at the apex, pubescent with scattered hairs on the upper surface when young, glabrous beneath except the midrib, abruptly narrowed at the base, rather long-petioled ; panicle-rachis and pedicels copiously red-tomentulose at least during anthesis, the pedicels mostly less than 7 mm. long ; sepals ovate, about 4 mm. long, the glands one half the length of the sepal-body or less; larger petals 5-6 mm. long ; drupes not seen.
Type locality : West Indies. Distribution : Jamaica.
