Banisteria simulans Small, sp. nov
Leaf-blades ovate to oblong-ovate, 3-6 cm. long, or more, acute or apiculate, dull, finely pubescent and appressed veiny above, rather copiously pubescent and prominently veined beneath, rounded at the base, short-petioled ; inflorescence narrowly pyramidal ; sepals oblong or nearly so, 3-3.5 mm. long, the glands one half the length of the sepalbody or less ; petals not seen; samaras 2-2.5 cm. long, the wing thin, minutely pubescent, broadly dilated toward the apex, not auricled at the base, the bod}with a double crown .
Type collected near Los Canos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, October 15-21, 1902, Edward Palmet 25S (herb. N. Y. Bot. Gard.).
Distribution : Known only from the type locality.

Leaf -blades oblong or oval, varying to ovate or obovate, mostly 2.5-7 cm. long, acute
or mucronate, impressed-veined and more or less pubescent above at least when young,
prominently veined and tomentose beneath, obtuse or subcordate at the base, short-petioled ;
inflorescence pyramidal during anthesis ; sepals oblong to oblong-ovate, 2.5-3 mm. long,
the glands about one half the length of the sepal-body; larger petals 4.5-6 mm. long;
samaras 3^1 cm. long, the wing tomentulose, slightly dilated near the apex, the body with
a single crown.
Type locality: Mexico.
Distribution : Mexico and Central America ; also in Colombia.

Leaf-blades broadly obovate to oval, 2.5^.5 cm. long, rounded or retuse at the apex and usually prominently mucronate, dark-green and often sparingly pubescent above, palegreen, somewhat veiny and usually pubescent beneath, obtuse or rounded at the base, short-petioled; inflorescence, or its branches, elongate; sepals ovate, 2.5-3 mm. long, the glands about one half the length of the sepal-body, or much less ; larger petals 5-5.5 mm. long ; samaras 2-2.5 cm. long, the wing broad at the base, somewhat narrowed to the rather broad apex, sparingly pubescent, the body veiny.
Type locality : Escuintla, Guatemala. Distribution : Guatemala.

Heteropterys brachiata ( Spanish; Castilian )

La Heteropterys brachiata, palo de margarita es una especie botánica de planta trepadora, originaria de México hasta el noroeste de Sudamérica.

Descripción

Es un bejuco leñoso o arbusto, que alcanza un tamaño de hasta 4 m de alto. Las hojas más grandes ovadas o elípticas a subredondeadas, 4–8.5 cm de largo y 3–6 cm de ancho, redondeadas. Inflorescencia paniculada, las flores en umbelas o corimbos de 3–6, brácteas o bractéolas de 0.5–1.5 mm de largo. El fruto es una sámara de 18–32 mm de largo.[1]

Propiedades

Se usa en México para calmar los nervios, se toma el cocimiento de la planta por 4 o 5 días; también se prescribe “cuando está alocada una persona” o contra la rabia, se bebe la cocción del tallo, una vez al día durante una semana.[2]

Heteropterys brachiata fue descrita por (L.) DC. y publicado en Prodromus Systematis Naturalis Regni Vegetabilis 1: 591. 1824.[1]
