Description of Dactyliosolen fragilissimus

D. fragilissimus forms loosely connected chains. The cells bear processes on the sloping valve end which fit into depressions on the adjacent cell. It is often found together with Leptocylindrus danicus and Guinardia delicatula. This species can vary in diameter from 8-70microns and in the length of the pervalvar axis from 42-300 microns.
