Flattened, with one or two flagella (second, if present, is very short), normally attached to substrate by posterior end of long flagellum, moves with nodding motion, predatory on other flagellates, may glide with flagellum trailing behind. Two species, both marine. Type species, M. simplex (Griessmann, 1913) Larsen & Patterson, 1990.
