Megalobrachium poeyi (Guérin, 1855)

Megalobrachium poeyi.—Benedict, 1901:136, pl. 3: fig. 8.—Abele and Gore, 1973:105,—Gore, 1974:704 [not Haig. 1960:213, 214, 339, 340, pl. 16: fig. 4, pl. 39: fig. 1 (=M. pacificum Gore and Abele, 1974)].

MATERIAL EXAMINED.—Galeta Island; 2 , ; 23 Nov 1971 and 22 May 1972, respectively.

MEASUREMENTS.—Males 3.4 × 3.6, 3.8 × 4.3 mm, female 3.3 × 3.5 mm.

DISTRIBUTION.—Widely distributed from eastern central Florida throughout the eastern Caribbean to Brazil, the species has only rarely been collected in Panama. Megalobrachium poeyi has been collected from the intertidal zone to depths of 46 m.

MATERIAL EXAMINED.—PANAMA, Atlantic, Limón Bay, Fort Sherman (sta 127-1), 1, 1.

MEASUREMENTS.—2.5 × 2.7 and 3.8 × 4.3 mm.

DISTRIBUTION.—Eastern central Florida and the Caribbean Sea to Brazil; littoral to 46 m.
