"Flabelligella papillate, new species
(Plate 38)
Records: Be 5 (2, TYPE) ; Ch 35 Dr 12 (1).
Description: Length of the body is 3.8 mm; width 1.0 mm; segments number more than 20. The body is long, vermiform, cylindrical and tapers slightly posteriorly. The anterior end is broadly rounded, and lacks a cephalic cage. Segmental lines are obscure and segments are distinguishable by the laterally projecting setae. The surface epithelium is densely covered with elongated papillae (Fig. a) coated with dark gray sediment. The oral structures are completely withdrawn and have not been examined. Setae emerge from the body without visible parapodial development.
Notopodia have slender, distally pointed setae which are cross-barred along their free length, with the bars wider apart than the setae are wide. Neurosetae emerge laterally, a short distance below the notosetae ; they occur singly in a ramus, or occasionally two are present ; each is composite (Fig. b) with the shaft widened at its distal end and articulation oblique ; the appendage is falcate, its cutting edge denticulate, and the distal end is hinged. The posterior end has no modified structures.
Distribution: Off Bermuda, in slope depth, 2000 m; off northeastern South America in 770 to 805"
