Diagnosis

Shell very small, up to 3 mm, with a straight cardinal line running over the entire length; ventral margin rounded, slightly sinuous and more salient in the back. Cardinal line with very few teeth, generally three to each side of the umbo. Exterior with very fine radial ribs and commarginal grooves. Colour white, fresh or live specimens yellowish with two stained areas before and after the umbo.

Eastern Atlantic, from northern Norway to Senegal, also Canary and Cape Verde Islands; Mediterranean; Western Atlantic from Greenland to Gulf of St. Lawrence Gorringe, Josephine, Ampère and Seine seamounts, common in 165-630 m; Great Meteor, Hyères, Irving and Atlantis seamounts, uncommon in 420-845 m; Plato seamount, common in 580-710 m.
