Colonies never have extended valleys, but consist of irregular clusters of fluted thin laminae with very prominent costae forming upwardly projecting spires. Columellae are weakly developed. Septa are smooth or have small teeth. Colour: uniform brown or grey. Abundance: common in turbid water habitats, especially on fringing reefs. (Veron, 1986 )
