Amboina Cardinalfish

Distinguished by having the following characteristics: dorsal-fin rays VI-I, 9; anal-fin rays II, 8; pectoral-fin rays 14; pelvic-fin rays I, 5; pored lateral-line scales 24; predorsal scales 7; circumpeduncular scales 12; total gill rakers 21-22, developed gill rakers 19-20; light brown body; two black stripes, one from snout to opercular margin through eye, and the second one on anterior portion of lateral line; blackish anterior part of first dorsal fin; base of caudal-fin with distinct black spot (Ref. 93839).

分布於印度-西太平洋區，西起馬來西亞，東至所羅門，北至台灣、日本，南迄新加勒多尼亞。台灣主要分布於南部的大鵬灣潟湖區。

通常以下雜魚處理，用作魚飼料，有時會曬成小魚乾自家食用，並無任何經濟價值。

體長圓而側扁。頭大。吻長。眼大。D. VI-I，9；A. II，8； P. 14； Ll. 26-27；GR. 4+4。體白色而略透明，具由吻部延伸至鰓蓋後緣之寬眼線，後接延伸至尾部之細黑色縱線，而在前部側線上另具一狹細而不顯之弧形黑線；尾柄上另具一小黑點；第一背鰭第I-III硬棘黑色。

主要棲息於河口域、紅樹林區等半淡鹹水域，甚至可於低潮時進入淡水域。
