Hyperolius leleupi Laurent 1951

A Hyperolius from the highlands of eastern R. D. Congo. Female 33 mm. Males with very reduced gular flap. Dorsum of males with conspicuous spinosities. Dorsum rather dark brown, sometimes with diffuse dark spots, sometimes with indistinct yellow spots. Males sometimes more greenish. A black canthal band continues as a line of dark spots in the lateral area, sometimes interspersed with white spots. Ventrum yellow to green, extremities red. A rare form, found in bamboo forests in the Itombwe Highlands, Kivu, R. D. Congo.

Hyperolius leleupi is a species of frog in the family Hyperoliidae. It is endemic to the Itombwe Mountains in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. This little-known but likely rare species occurs in high-altitude bamboo forests at around 2,550 m (8,370 ft) above sea level. Habitat loss caused by agriculture, livestock and human settlements is likely a threat.
