Geranium mexicanum H.B.K. Nov. Gen. & Sp. 5 : 230. 1822 Perennial, the caudex sometimes branched. Stems often tufted, not scape-like, spreading or decumbent, 2-7 dm. long, retrorsely pubescent ; leaf-blades pentagonal in outline, 1.5-4 cm. wide, 3-5-parted, the divisions incised or toothed, strigillose ; petioles of the lower leaves elongate, pubescent like the stem; pedicels glandular-hirsute; sepals awntipped, the outer ones 5.5-6.5 mm. long, the bodies ovate or elliptic ; petals strongly veined, about twice as long as the sepals; style-column 16-18 mm. long, glandular-pubescent; carpel-bodies 3 mm. long, sparingly hirsute ; seeds reticulate.
Type locality : Between Guanajuato and Santa Rosa, Mexico. Distribution : Mexico and Guatemala.

Geranium resimum Small, sp. nov
Perennial, the caudex branched. Stems 3-7 dm. long, erect or somewhat decumbent at the base, scape-like, rather coarsehhirsute ; leaf-blades various, those of the basal leaves pentagonal in outline, 3-6 cm. wide, those of the upper stem-leaves hastate in outline, 3parted, finely hirsute, the divisions with ovate abruptly pointed teeth, the lateral divisions recurved; pedicels copiously glandular-pubescent; sepals awn-tipped, the outer ones 9-11 mm. long, the bodies oblong or nearly so, hirsute and fineh' glandular-pubescent, the tip short ; petals pale rose-purple, 15-21 mm. long ; style-column glandular-hirsute ; carpelbodies not seen.

Distribution : Western Mexico.
