Tree found in very thick rain forest of Ohia trees (Metrosideros polymorpha) with tree ferns(Cibotium glaucum). Endemic to this specific area of the windward side of the Big Island, Hawaii (Near Glenwood & Kulani, SW of Hilo).

While these palms are endemic to Hawaii, most of the palms visitors see on vacation are not. Many Hawaiian species are endangered due to forest clearing. Luckily this species is collected and grown on the windward side of the Island.
