They are native to Amazônia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Tocantins, Maranhao, Pará, ParaíBa, The Americas, Puerto Rico, Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande Do Norte, Ceará, Caatinga, Piauí, and Cerrado. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.54 m.
