CN: [Malay - Ceriman], Cut-leaf-philodendron, Mexican-breadfruit, Monstera, Swiss-cheese-plant, split-leaf philodendron, Locust and wild honey, Windowleaf, Delicious monster, Penglai banana. Native of Mexico and Mesoamerica; cultivated elsewhere as ornamental, source of food and folk medicine for the treatment of arthritis and snakebites. An epiphyte with aerial roots, able to grow up to 20 m high with large, leathery, glossy, heart-shaped leaves 2590 cm long by 2575 cm broad. Young plants have leaves that are smaller and entire with no lobes or holes, but soon produce lobed and holed leaves. Fruits edible and taste similar to pineapple and jackfruit.
