Maximum longevity: 17.4 years (captivity)
Observations: In the wild these animals live up to 13-15 years (Ronald Nowak 1999). One wild born specimen was still alive at about 17.4 years of age (Richard Weigl 2005). There are also anecdotal reports of animals living over 18 years.
