Laetiporus portentosus 59508

Image de Laetiporus portentosus (Berk.) Rajchenb. 1995

Description :

Description: Laetiporus portentosus ((Berk.) Rajchenb.) Location: Attunga State Forest Tamworth Region NSW Australia Notes: Tried to load this fungi but may have had server drop out due to size of images.Specimen found halfway up the trunk of a large living SpottedGreyGum. (Eucalyptus). This gum looses it’s bark, usually during spring, which causes it to have large colour changes. (to it’s trunk.) Some of the bark can be seen surrounding the fungi.I do not have any records of this fungi. What looks like spore droppings could be pieces of the fungi breaking away from the main body, as they appear to be too large (in my opinion.). What is interesting is the spores (if indeed they are pores) are also on the side surfaces of the growth? All images taken with Telephoto lens. (300mm f2.8 prime lens)Open for naming suggestions etc. Date: 1 October 2009. Source: : This image is Image Number 59508 at Mushroom Observer, a source for mycological images.
